    Description

    Are you enthusiastic about making a meaningful impact through your profession? Merakey is on the lookout for a part-time Psychiatrist to become part of our ACT team catering to Somerset and Bedford counties in Western Pennsylvania . This team specializes in assisting transition age youth, specifically individuals aged between 16 and 24.

    Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams comprise various professionals, from psychiatrists and nurses to mental health and substance abuse experts, employment and housing specialists, and peer support professionals. Together, they deliver comprehensive services, such as therapy, medication management, and linking clients to resources for adults facing serious mental illness (SMI). These services are provided either at the client's residence or in the community, usually involving one face-to-face meeting per month.

    Regarding the schedule, this position requires 20 hours per week, with one day on-site offering flexible hours.

    Details of the Position:

    • Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments and supervise treatment.
    • Provide clinical guidance, essential education, and team training, which includes overseeing medication, psychiatric treatment protocols, and processes.
    • Carry out psychiatric evaluations, therapy sessions (individual, group, family), and educational interventions as needed.
    • Prescribe psychotropic medications and regularly assess their effectiveness and side effects, educating clients about these medicines.
    • Collaborate with registered nurses in evaluating clients' physical health, making referrals to community physicians, and aligning medical treatments with psychiatric care.
    • Extend continuous support, counseling, and education to team members as well as clients' family members, equipping them with insights into mental health.
    • Provide crisis evaluation and management during work hours, off-site, via phone, and be the on-call backup for emergencies.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Board eligible or board certified Psychiatrist in the State of PA.
    • Experience in delivering care to individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
    • Supervisory background is preferred.
    • Act 33 and 44 clearances are mandatory.
    • Possess a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
