    Main Purpose of Job

    The Assistant Regional Director provides coaching and support to Case Management Specialist Supervisor and Case Management Program Supervisors in the Region.

    Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring special initiatives are implemented in the Region and coach the other supervisors in the Region on the implementation and adherence to supervision models.

    This position provides support to the Regional Director when needed to cover duties in the region.\rThis is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

    POSITION DUTIES
    \r\r\r

    Manages\r

    the Case Management Services and the normal daily operations of the respective\r

    county offices/jurisdiction (Baltimore County/Central Region) to ensure the\r

    most cost-effective manner by which to service the community and its youth in\r

    accordance with the goals and objectives of DJS' program services.\r\r\r\r\r

    Oversees,\r

    manages, trains, and provides direction to Case Management Specialist\r

    Supervisors and Case Management Specialists as to the practices and methods\r

    used in implementing and coordinating the delivery of services and treatment\r

    plans for juveniles on probation supervision or after-care supervision in an\r

    effort to reduce reoffending by youth and to promote productive citizenship and\r

    social acceptance.\r\r\r\r\r

    Evaluate current staff, resource needs, and services, develop plans, and\r

    present the same to the Regional Director. As needed, provides accurate/timely\r

    information to the Regional Director for dissemination to Headquarters' staff\r

    for implementation, consistent with the goals of the Department. Presentations\r

    include data regarding program utilization or resource needs.\r\r\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:
    Possession of a\rBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

    \r\rNote:

    An Associate of Arts degree in the social or\rbehavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or\runiversity and three years of experience supervising case management staff may\rbe substituted for the required Bachelor's degree

    \r\rExperience:


    Five years of experience providing case management\rservices to emotionally or socially maladjusted, delinquent, victimized, or\rexceptional juveniles in a community or residential setting.

    Two years of this\rexperience must have involved the supervision of case management service\rstaff.

    \r\rNote:


    A\rMaster's degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from\ran accredited college or university and two years of experience supervising\rcase management staff may be substituted for one year of the required general\rexperience.

    LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
    This recruitment is limited to current Maryland State employees only.\r
    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
    Employees in this classification may be assigned duties\rwhich require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties\rwill be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the\rState of Maryland.\r

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates appointed to positions in this classification\rare required to become fully certified by the Maryland Correctional Training\rCommission within 90 days of appointment and maintain certification while\remployed.
