    Rail Foreman - Eastern yards

    Reports to:
    Rail Superintendent - Eastern yards


    Classification:
    Salaried Exempt


    Job Summary:
    Oversees the daily rail operations

    Minimum Qualifications/ Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • High school diploma/GED
    • Excellent communication skills (efficient, concise, clear); good telephone techniques
    • Excellent computer skills - Excel, Outlook, Word, Oracle
    • Resourceful and well organized with keen attention to detail
    • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive-and be able to recognize and support
    the organization's goals, objectives and priorities

    • Eager to take on more responsibilities as they arise
    • Positive and proactive attitude

    Essential Functions/Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Rail Scheduling:
    • Generates daily unloading schedule based on train arrivals
    • Allocates employees to facilities to line up with skill sets and train arrivals
    • Allocates rail crew to cover for loader vacations
    • Allocates rail crew to work/assist in maintenance efforts
    • Manages release of trains through ShipCSX, ShipperConnect, ect.
    • Manages hours of employees
    • Performs safety training to new temp employees
    • Rail Supervision:
    • Directly supervises hourly rail employees
    (Drives around to each unloading facility each day)


    • Verifies proper PPE is worm by all employees
    • Covers weekend rail calls with WLE
    • Audits fire extinguishers at each facility monthly in accordance with our corporate policy
    • Manages EPA logbooks and reporting requirements
    • Audits facilities for housekeeping, OHSA, MSHA, and Company protocol
    • Assists in the interviewing and selection process for new rail crew employees
    • Performs tailgate meetings with rail crew employees
    • Training for Rail crew on Skid Steers
    • Tool use and security
    • Inventory control for PPE and Tools
    • Assist in the Rail crew winter training
    • Problem solving assistance to the rail crew
    • Winter tasks
    • Help perform maintenance with Mechanic
    • Cover for loader vacations
    • Help review rail car defects and work with Superintendent on getting repairs made
    • Other duties as directed by Rail Superintendent
