    The Principal Data Analyst will be a key member of the Optum Health Strategy organization's global team of analysts, business intelligence professionals, and data engineers. This role will be responsible for driving critical strategic initiatives and optimizing existing architectural patterns and processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement, business and technical requirements, advanced analytics tools, and data pipelines. The Principal Data Analyst will be involved in both detailed and high-level analytics across Optum Health, and will be expected to assist in defining best practices for the team.     Primary Responsibilities:

    • Build analytics tools that utilize data to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics
    • Build, maintain, and production support of analytics tools in Power BI
    • Design, build, and launch efficient and reliable data pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Snowflake
    • Extract, Transform, and Load data from a wide variety of data sources while assembling large, complex data sets that meet business requirements
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional collaboration across Optum Health national and local teams as well as other Optum Health businesses to stay
      informed of key initiatives, gain business domain expertise, and learn the drivers of each business area
    • Bring innovative ideas to help continuously improve the architecture portfolio including design, build, deploy, test and automate within our cloud environments
    • Participate in troubleshooting critical problems and solving complex technical issues that may arise in a cloud environment
    • A great attitude, passion, and persistence to solve complex problems
    • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
    • Capture business requirements that can be translated into technical specifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience integrating and mining large data sets to generate insights and inform business decisions
    • 5+ years of experience with structuring data for effective utilization including sourcing, cleaning, managing, manipulating, automating, and optimizing output
    • Proven ability to work independently, and as part of a team, to deliver on team goals and business objectives
    • Proven willingness to learn and adapt to a new and evolving technology stack
    • Must be able to work CST zone standard business hours

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Healthcare industry experience
    • Experience with programming and relational database software such as SQL, Snowflake, Azure, etc.
    • Experience with integrated service capabilities and scheduling/monitoring workflows such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, etc.
    • Experience with version control systems such as GitHub, etc.
    • Broad technology and analytics experience, including complex systems integration and infrastructure expertise with hybrid cloud platforms

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
