- Sets up, adjusts and operates either lathes and milling machines or various dynamic or dynetric balancing equipment, as required, for the production of parts.
- In the performance of the operations assigned, the following equipment may be used: engine lathes, single or multi-tooled, lathes and milling machines or automatic, semi-automatic or manually controlled balance machines and drilling and/or milling equipment.
- Performs a variety of production operations including the following representative work – turning, facing boring, threading, tapping, drilling, cutting key ways, splines and milling various flat surfaces on rough or semi-finished forgings, casting, barstock / flatstock or checks parts for balance and removes or adds stock as required to meet specifications on semi-finished forgings, castings, barstock materials.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and written specifications.
- Checks the quality of work performed using a variety of precision measuring instruments, tools and gages
- Counts and reports production and accurately reports the distribution of time.
- Keeps work area in good housekeeping order.
- Oils machinery and equipment as required.
- Performs material handling duties when required.
- Job involves standing, walking, twisting, turning, reaching, bending, climbing steps, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Ability to use basic handheld measuring tools.
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to follow safety guidelines in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication skills to understand instructions, ask questions, and collaborate with team members.
- Basic problem-solving skills to address simple issues related to machining processes.
- Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with operating and machine set-up / operating or balancing
- Experience reading and interpreting drawings.
- Completion of a vocational or technical training program in machining or a related field is preferred.
