InnovationABOUT THE JOB:
Oasis is more than a location. It is a network of resources that meets the expansive needs of young people.
This position will support our growing housing department at Oasis, primarily focusing on the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) Program.
Oasis' FYI program connects youth ages 18-24 with foster care experience to Housing Choice Vouchers combined with ongoing case management for three years.
The Housing Case Manager will provide case management support to youth accessing this program, and will include intake, assessment, housing search and placement, crisis intervention, resource referral, and ongoing housing stability support.
Case Managers will employ a principles-based approach to youth work. This includes embracing positive youth development, strength-based approach, trauma informed care, harm reduction, collaboration, and being journey oriented.This position will interface with clients, volunteers, and a spectrum of community partners, including landlords, Housing and Redevelopment Authorities (HRAs), schools, businesses, and other organizations.
HOUSING STABILITY SUPPORT
·
Responsible for filling vacancies in Oasis' Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) housing voucher program, offering support to youth throughout each stage of the process (eligibility, documentation/paperwork, housing search, lease up, housing maintenance, etc.)
·
Develop and strengthen referral channels and networks to quickly connect youth to available housing opportunities
·
Work in partnership with youth to identify housing related needs, developing strengths-based goal plans that support overall well-being, stability, and social connectedness, connecting youth to available resources and opportunities
·
Provide counseling on compliance with housing voucher and landlord relationships, assistance with deposits, application fees, utility connections, etc.; assist with landlord mediation as needed
·
Support youth to further develop independent living skills, including money management, home maintenance, accessing health care, mental health, job preparation and maintenance, education and career advancement, and other areas identified by youth
·
Respond to crisis situations in a culturally responsive, respectful, and professional manner
·
Meet with youth regularly, providing consistent support, follow-through and encouragement as they work toward stability
·
Advocate for youth across systems and situations
·
Celebrate moments of success frequently and fiercely
REPORTING & DATA COLLECTION
·
Assist with collection of data as needed for funders and the analysis of monthly and quarterly reports
·
Complete ongoing HMIS data entry related to Coordinated Entry and Oasis' housing programs
·
Maintain case notes and other file documentation
·
Complete paperwork in a timely and professional manner
ORGANIZATION & TEAM
·
Participate in staff meetings, case consultation and trainings and inform your team about area resources and assistance programs
·
Act as a representative for Oasis for Youth at all times
