    Job Purpose
    We are looking to hire a Senior Engineer, Shafting/Rudder.

    This job role is to lead the Shafting/Rudder discipline in the Machinery Outfitting division and manage day-to-day activities of the overall detail/production drawings in Ship Building.

    Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

    Key Accountabilities:
    Execute Engineering activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study, Detail Design).

    Prepare specification, technical evaluation, Supplier documentation review, and expediting with Suppliers.

    Interface with other departments to reflect the as-on-date input from other Departments as applicable.

    Create and review Shafting Plan for VLCC and determine AFT/FWD Bush, Intermediate Shaft Bearing size and position.

    Calculate Torsional Axial Vibration for VLCC and provide alternatives against vibration.

    Determine the Stern Equipment specification and understand the Stern Tube piping for VLCC.

    Create and review Shaft Alignment Calculation and procedure of shaft alignment for VLCC.


    Create and review Rudder and Stern Calculation and calculate Strength of Rudder Torque and Force and Rudder Horn / Rudder plate.

    And calculate Rudder stock diameter.

    Create and review Rudder Bearing arrangement.

    Create and review Steering Gear Capacity and Piping Diagram and Steering Gear Arrangement and seating.

    Ensure that designs comply with the relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.

    Attend Factory Acceptance Test Progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.


    Capture all changes / modifications in the deliverables that have been intimated by Project, prior to the release of deliverable.

    Ensure appropriate checking & review of all documents / drawings before release at any Revision status.

    Attend project review meetings.

    Coordinate with the other Engineering disciplines, Customer, and Suppliers.

    Manage the subcontractors when engineering activities are outsourced or subcontracted.

    Ensure Compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures.


    Working Relationships:

    Internal Interactions:
    Internal Engineering departments, other business work-streams within the company.


    External Interactions:
    Suppliers, Subcontractors, consultants, inspection agencies.

    Who we are looking for

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or Naval Architecture Engineering.

    Experience:

    9-15+ years in the engineering department of any shipbuilding industry.

    Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations):

    Preferred – Any additional certification/courses in mechanical engineering.

    Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):


    Sound knowledge of International marine Rules & Regulations (IMO convention, Codes etc.), Classification Society Rules, Flag state national Rules, Industrial standards & guidelines.

    Exposure to 2D AutoCAD and 3D design tools like AVEVA.

    Exposure to equipment sizing and calculations in ships.

    Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment.

    Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others regarding continuous improvement.

    English. (Mandatory) Arabic/Others (desirable)
