    The Rehabilitation Hospital is a 20 bed comprehensive medical rehabilitation unit. Our mission is to deliver compassionate, quality, interdisciplinary rehabilitative care, including 24 hour comprehensive nursing.

    Rehab Nursing provides patient and family education, comprehensive rehabilitative nursing care, and reinforces skills learned in therapy to help patients return to their maximum level of independence.


    Job Summary:

    The Staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for the organization and implementation of medically prescribed Occupational Therapy treatment programs evaluating patients for appropriate exercises and activities, constructing appropriate splints and adaptive devices and by evaluating and documenting the patient's progress related to rehabilitation.

    He/she also helps the patient reach his/her maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities.

    All duties and responsibilities are to be carried out with empathy and compassion towards patients and their families as well as co-workers.


    Minimum Requirements:

    The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

    The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures.

    BS/MS/OTD in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy. Current license from the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the human body and the pathological processes commonly seen in Occupational Therapy patients. Experience preferred but not required.
