The Opportunity:
Patient Care Associate - PACU
Why This Role Is Important?
The Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACU) at MGH are comprised of 6 individual critical care areas (Ellison 3, White 3, Lunder 2, 3, 4 and White 13) dedicated to the care of adult and pediatric patients preceding and immediately following surgery and/or procedures requiring anesthesia.
Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.
Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, Patient transport to varies destination, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications
Required:
Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
Preferred:
Licensed, certified or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR
Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
