    Description
    This Position is for an Application Analyst I with a public university work location in University, MS.

    Definition of Class

    This position supports one or more software applications. The incumbent manages accounts, runs reports, configures applications for departmental use and trains end users.

    Examples of Work Performed

    Transforming data to facilitate its movement from one system to another

    Using APIs as part of regular duties (e.g., moving data between systems) or as part of research support (e.g., extracting data from vendor databases or social media)

    Creating and advising on programmatic solutions for library services, particularly related to the library collection

    Performing data cleanup using tools such as Microsoft Excel, pandas, and/or OpenRefine

    Consulting with librarians and/or researchers on how software-based solutions could be incorporated into research projects


    Supporting the Scholar Support and Data Services department and other units as needed using programming languages (e.g., Python, R), relational database management systems (e.g.

    , MySQL, PostgreSQL), and web development tools (HTML, CSS)

    Making recommendations on how applications can be used to match organizational needs

    Developing detailed and concise application documentation for training users and conducting one-on-one, as well as group instruction

    Performing similar or related duties as assigned or required

    Essential Functions

    The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

    Supports software application.

    Assists non-technical users with application function.

    Manages data associated with software application.

    Serves as a liaison with vendor support unit.

    Minimum Education/Experience


    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.


    AND

    Experience:
    One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.


    Substitution Statement:


    Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
