    Functions as the primary coordinator for the scheduling of all appointments and enters pertinent data into the computer system. Performs all functions necessary to maintain the efficient flow of the schedule.

    • Maintains awareness of current hospital and departmental operational policies and procedures which impact position responsibilities.
    • Scheduling cases and placing on schedule with the appropriate timing on schedule.
    • Will communicate with Anesthesiologist, OR Director or PAT for assistance on this as needed.
    • Will keep in communication with Business services as needed for surgery add-ons.
    • Coordinate with Anesthesia, PAT and OR director for approval, timing and placement of surgeries on surgery schedule frequently/constantly throughout the day
    • Responsible for the obtaining insurance verification, authorizations, medical records, and orders for the outpatient exams, surgery scheduling, observation and inpatient stays.
    • Assures cases are scheduled according to operating room schedule.
    • Maintains open relationship with ordering physician office staff to ensure an efficient flow of patient information for procedures.
    • Informs the Director of Surgical Services regarding all scheduling conflicts.
    • Scans all necessary documentation that pertains to the type of service being rendered.
    • Reviews financial obligations with patients.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and company policies and

    procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety and hazardous materials.

    • Complies with the National Patient Safety Goals as they pertain to job responsibilities
    • Participate in performance improvement activities as necessary
    • Maintain confidentiality of patient related issues and adhering to all HIPAA rules and regulations.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • 1 year hospital scheduling preferred
    • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.

    LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
    • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
