    Job Overview:

    The Data Scientist will apply AI, machine learning, image processing, statistical models, and other algorithms to modernize the procurement process in manufacturing.

    This individual must have strong relevant computer science knowledge as well as practical computer programming skills.


    What you'll work on:


    Work with subject matter experts and product managers to define new features and functions that can be automated with artificial intelligence to assist buyers and manufacturers of metal parts and assemblies.

    Design, code, test, and document data science software modules – typically in Python as part of a highly-collaborative, distributed R&D team


    Typical examples include:
    Automatic interpretation of CNC machine specifications
    Automatic interpretation of two-dimensional mechanical drawings
    Automatic interpretation of 3D CAD files (STEP standard)
    Image capture and processing to digitize physical technical drawings
    Computer vision to read factory identification plates.
    Neural networks to capture expert knowledge about metal machining
    Ranking algorithms for finding best machines and manufacturers to make specific parts
    Keep abreast of Industry 4.0 and AI/ML trends and look for opportunities to enhance Sustainment products using artificial intelligence.


    Your areas of expertise:
    Graduate degree or equivalent experience requiring substantial application of data science skills.
    5+ years of engineering experience
    Successful delivery of large scale R&D projects
    Evidence of creative ability to apply AI, machine learning, statistics, image processing and other algorithms in innovative ways.
    Demonstrated ability to design, code, test, and document substantial software modules in Python
