Job Description:
The Mental Health Associate will assist a licensed healthcare provider in the delivery of patient care to adult patients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis. Assists in providing age appropriate and specific needs, treatment services, and performs related tasks as required (i.e. obtain vital signs; assist with activities of daily living). Provides direct patient care by planning, organizing, and implementing psychiatric rehabilitation activities. Assists in escort of patients to and from activities, assists in screening and basic assessment of patients. Provides documentation and keeps records of patient behavior. Assists in patient supervision of patients during treatment/support activities. Leads/co-leads group activities. Implements hospital and departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in assuring a safe, therapeutic environment.
Unit Description:
Allen 2 is a 28-bed co-ed unit who also specializes in geriatric patients or patients requiring a higher level of care.
Shift:
Must be able to work hour shifts (7-7:30), some weekends and holidays required.
Minimum Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent is required. No experience necessary.
CPR certification required (offered during orientation) as well as Non-Violent Crisis Prevention course completion and certification, as this position does involve physical team interventions in order to keep patients safe (offered during orientation).
The employee shall become familiar with HIPAA regulations and do their utmost to protect all protected health information (PHI) and other personal or sensitive information within their trust in the course of state business by applying appropriate safeguards and sharing only the information required to deliver agency services.
Any personal or sensitive information overheard or seen by the employee kept confidential by not sharing it with others, on or off the work-site grounds.
Computer competency and excellent customer service skills.
