Aerodynamics Flight Control and MDO Engineer

We are looking for a talented aerodynamics plus flight controls engineer to help continue our work in MDO that includes flight controls constraints. This is a unique role and opportunity to work with an innovative team on cutting edge research and development that make solutions fly on real aircraft. If youre interested in aerodynamics, MDO, flight controls, and can code in python/matlab/C++, this position was made for you.

You will work on funded research and development working on advanced flight control technologies for a variety of aircraft. Bechamo is a small startup, so you have a high learning rate and large future growth path. You will work with NASA, DARPA, evtol aircraft, and UAMs. This is a unique opportunity to join a startup with significant technical freedom to help define your path. We have stable funding and a variety of projects. This position is considered a critical second-tier founder position to augment our current amazing team. The position is Buffalo, NY, however, hybrid remote may be possible for the right candidate with proven industry experience. The position requires the ability to qualify for export control as it pertains to flight control technologies.

Position Requirements:

MS in Aerospace Engineering or related engineering field

Aerodynamics knowledge

Classical, modern, adaptive, and nonlinear control techniques

System modeling and dynamics

Ability to code in C/C++, MATLAB and Python

Experience in simulation development and analysis

Experience with MDO

Preferred/Nice to Have:

PhD in Aerospace Engineering with Controls, Dynamics or Simulation focus

Embedded programming

Experience in simulation development

Aircraft design using MDO/MDA

Experience with UAM

Experience with user interface programming in python and other tools

Adaptive control
