Do you have a passion for helping children? If so, we invite you to join our team at the Department of Children and Families (DCF) – Middletown, CT office, currently accepting applications for three positions.

Starting Salary Information:

New hires as Children Services Workers start at $28.23 per hour (FJ18)
Upon completing the test period, the hourly rate increases to $29.65 (FK18)
Experienced employees from a 1199-covered direct-care position are exempt from the reduced training rate.

Full-time position available
2nd Shift: 2:45 pm – 11:15 pm
Schedule flexibility required to meet agency needs

Role Overview:

Counsel and advise residents on various matters
Ensure residents' psychological and physical well-being
Supervise daily activities and teach self-support skills
Reward positive behavior and oversee recreational activities
Document significant events and administer medications
Escort residents and attend meetings and training
Perform related duties as needed

About the Albert J. Solnit Children's Center – South Campus:

The center provides comprehensive care to children and adolescents with severe mental illness and related issues who require a specialized setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of relevant experience
Associate's degree or equivalent college credits can be substituted

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in congregate care treatment programs
Work experience in psychiatric/behavioral health settings
Ability to document and advocate for residents

Special Requirements:

Bilingual or ASL skills may be required
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
Physical demands and exposure to risk
