    Job Description:

    The Business & Economics Department at Marietta College invites applications for a full-time, renewable faculty position in accounting beginning in the Fall of 2024. Our department seeks an engaged colleague with a demonstrated commitment to a well-rounded education in business in a liberal arts context.

    We seek a colleague with the capacity to reimagine an undergraduate accounting program through mentoring of undergraduate students, excellent teaching, and the support of student professional development.

    Current teaching needs for the 24-25 academic year include intermediate accounting, cost accounting, auditing, taxation, and fundamental of accounting (intro-level course that combines financial and managerial accounting). In future years, other accounting courses/areas could be of need.

    The Department offers degree programs in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Public Accounting, and Sport Management. These programs provide faculty an opportunity to collaborate with undergraduate students both in and out of the classroom.


    Requirements:

  • Ph.D., DBA, or terminal degree preferred, but we will consider candidates with an earned Master of Accountancy degree.
  • Professional work experience
  • Active CPA license or active CMA, CIA or CFE certification
  • Teaching experience in a college or university setting

  • Additional Information:

  • Demonstrated commitment to effective teaching at the college level in accounting courses. This may be evidenced by a clearly stated teaching philosophy, engagement in pedagogical training and development opportunities, or strong teaching evaluations
  • Experience growing programs, recruiting and retaining students, and engaging in recruitment activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring undergraduate students, including first generation and underrepresented college students, e.g., involving undergraduates in research and/or professional development activities, experiential learning, etc.
  • Experience in or demonstrated commitment to service at the department, college, and professional level
