• Registration as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer and certification in (1) one patient population. Requires BLS certification.


• required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s). This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.


• Requires a professional level of knowledge of echocardiology techniques and must be able to independently perform diagnostic echocardiograms procedures. At least one year training in echocardiology specific to a patient population. Communicates effectively with patients when allaying fears and eliciting cooperation, and to relay patient information to physicians and nursing personnel.


• Requires analytical ability to recognize anatomic abnormalities, adjust equipment settings to appropriately target the ultrasound and identify irregularities during course of ultrasound and notify appropriate personnel.


• Prioritizes and organizes daily workload while paying close attention to detail.
