    Description

    of the Position:
    Works directly with functional leaders to provide a safe and secure work environment that is
    free from recognized hazards. Responsible for ensuring safety systems, policies and procedures
    are in place, understood, and followed.

    Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of
    material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance
    investigations


    • Compiles and submits reports required by regulatory agencies
    • Manages auto and Workers Compensation claims
    • Develops and facilitates job-specific safety training for new hires and existing associates
    • Designs effective tools to raise safety awareness and reinforce safe work practices
    • Conduct audits to identify potential risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory
    requirements and company policies


    • Provides guidance to site leaders on safety related matters
    • Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance
    when observed.


    • Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develops and implements strategies to prevent workplace injuries, property losses, and
    vehicle accidents


    • Prepares and implements policies/procedures that incorporate safety into routine work
    flows


    • Reviews and interprets regulatory requirements; monitors changes; implements system
    controls to ensure compliance


    • Conducts job, work environment, and equipment analyses to identify safety hazards;
    recommends solutions


    • Conducts investigations of safety incidents and recommends corrective actions
    • Manages safety reporting and recordkeeping systems; analyzes loss data to identify
    patterns and trends

    Requirements:
    B.S. degree in Safety Engineering or related discipline


    • Minimum 5 years of related experience preferably in a warehouse/transportation
    environment


    • Comprehensive knowledge of safety program management and statistical reporting
    techniques


    • Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g. OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT,
    FMCSA, FTA, WC)


    • Must have experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced
    environment


    • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications
    • Must have current driver's license and be able to travel to remote locations (25%)
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred but not required
