This is a part-time Advanced Practice Provider Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant opportunity within the Surgical Intensive Care Unit SICU at Yale New Haven Hospital The SICU provides care for complex critically ill surgical patients including those recovering from trauma vascular transplant thoracic general surgical procedures responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments formulating management plans ordering interpreting diagnostic tests performing invasive bedside procedures such as arterial lines central lines chest tubes intubations if credentialed participating daily multidisciplinary rounds APPs work closely critical care physicians surgical teams ensure continuity care contribute teaching residents fellows nursing staff opportunities participate quality improvement projects protocol development research initiatives ongoing education simulation training support advanced certifications provided enhance clinical expertise qualifications previous ICU critical experience preferred but not required qualifications graduate accredited nurse practitioner accredited physician assistant program
