- In partnership with senior leadership, the Supervisor manages the development of the hospice program, which includes hiring staff, providing staff education, managing data, and implementing clinical best practices.
- Determines staffing requirements based on census needs while maximizing personnel utilization.
- Ensures compliance with personnel policies.
- Conducts performance reviews and evaluations of direct reports, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Monitors daily compliance with regulatory and reimbursement requirements established by government agencies and provides guidance to the staff in patient care.
- Maintains compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations.
- Assists in orienting, mentoring, and educating McCarthy Care Center staff.
- Collaborates with other departments to establish and enforce policies and standards related to hospice activities.
- Determines patient eligibility for General Inpatient level of care according to program guidelines.
- Manages patient admission processes and establishes care plans, including medication reconciliations.
- Initiates and revises the General Inpatient Plan of Care based on patient and family needs.
- Manages patient symptom control; administers medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Attends Interdisciplinary Group Team meetings and hospice-sponsored trainings.
- Ensures availability of necessary equipment, medications, and services at the McCarthy Hospice Care Center.
- Provides clinical expertise and acts as a resource for staff and the community.
- Participates in Agency Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Delivers service excellence to patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues in line with VNA's CARES values.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- Registered Nurse with a current license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- BSN, Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Two to four years of supervisory experience in a home health agency, hospice, or related health program.
- Proficient in program administration.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to use various hardware and software.
