    Job Duties


    The Virginia State Police is seeking a collaborative and innovative team player to serve as a full time Program Support Technician Senior with the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia.

    • Compiles appropriate non-compliant criminal offender documentation required for sex offender violation cases in regions 4 and 6.
    • Prepares affidavits and certifications for custodian's signature.
    • Responds to Subpoena Duces Tecum's.
    • Logs requests and isolates offender information for legal review to determine whether offender is eligible for removal from the Sex Offender Registry.
    • Enters, updates, uploads, and validates SP-236 registrations.
    • Enters and archives SP-236 registrations for change of address, employment, and other information into the sex offender registration system.
    • Completes the supply orders, monthly totals report and processes and maintains the deleted log and the subpoenas/court calendar when primary employees are out.
    • Process bi-monthly re-registration mailing for offenders.
    • Prints two copies of SP-236-A forms and runs through the Pitney Bowes machine.
    • Ensures mailings are accurately processed within a timely manner and inform the supervisor when problems occur with the equipment.
    • Trains new employees to perform tasks assigned in the Sex Offender Registry in accordance with laws, policies, and procedures.
    • Works on special tasks as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.
    • Serves as the main lead for ordering supplies for SOR.
    • Acts as back up to the primary employees regarding the subpoena/court calendar; and entering statue codes and zip codes into the system when the assigned employees are absent.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
    • Skill in operating a computer and using Microsoft Office
    applications, and keyboarding.


    • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information and make logical decisions based on policies, procedures, and laws; to perform research on questionable data by applying established procedures from training and learn

    laws regarding registration requirements; to apply general knowledge of computer formatted functions, state, federal codes, and regulation; to exercise independent judgment and apply prescribed policies, procedures; to follow written and verbal instructions, and pay close attention to details; to work independently and as part of a team; and to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.


    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Progressively responsible administrative experience in researching and analyzing data from a variety of sources to determine validity and identify missing elements.
    • Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States (U.S.) citizenship or having been a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. and eligible for naturalization.
