As a Senior Staff Accountant at JH Kelly, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization.
You will be responsible for overseeing and managing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing critical financial insights.
This role requires a highly skilled and experienced professional with a CPA license and a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
Conduct monthly and year-end financial close processes, including reconciliations and adjustments.
Provide guidance and support to junior accountants to aide in their professional development.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies as necessary.
Ensure all financial transactions are recorded and classified accurately.
Review and approve journal entries, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Monitor and implement changes to accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and financial systems.
Prepare and file various tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
Support the Assistant Controller and Controller in ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects.
Qualifications – Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a preference for prior experience in a senior staff accountant role
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of relevant tax regulations and experience in tax compliance is a plus.
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook
