    Innovative-IDM is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Project Controls Engineer to join us is in our mission to help American manufacturers stay globally competitive.

    They are responsible for managing the technical aspects of projects from concept through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Manage and lead the technical execution of industrial automation projects from start to finish, including design, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
    • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to define project requirements, BOM, scope, and objectives.
    • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans in conjunction with the Project Manager.
    • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions as required.
    • Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, and risk assessments.
    • Design and develop industrial automation systems, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems.
    • Write technical specifications, design documents, and test plans.
    • Oversee system integration, programming, testing, and commissioning.
    • Provide technical support and training to clients and project teams.
    • Manage project documentation, including drawings, schematics, manuals, and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
    • Design industrial AC & DC drive systems and industrial motion control systems.
    • Develop programs for industrial automation systems including PLC, HMI, motion, safety, vision, and robotics.
    • Develop and review mechanical and electrical CAD drawings.
    • Create and execute factory acceptance tests for systems you designed and/or programmed.
    • Develop system documentation including operation and maintenance manuals.
    • Utilize technical product and application knowledge to assist others on the team.
    • Communicate directly with customers and vendors.
    • Support presales activities by providing expertise in controls design, product application and specification.
    • Support field service activities by providing life cycle support of previous solutions.
    • Assist sales and field service with discovery and requirements definition when new opportunities are identified.
    • Review customer RFQ or customer-supplied functional requirements and assist in developing design specifications including hardware configuration, BOM, software design, and electrical controls design.
    • Provide engineering estimates and assist in creating work breakdown structures and estimating duration of tasks.
    • Develop and review Third Party RFQ's.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Project Engineer Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering related field from a four-year college, technical school, or equivalent experience.
    • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation engineering.
    • Experience with engineering tools such as SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, MS Word & Excel.
    • Experience with automation technologies, such as PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems, Omron and WAGO products a plus.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, and function block.
    • SolidWorks experience a plus.
    • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, EtherCAT, and Ethernet/IP.
    • Experience with DRIVES and MOTION Control Equipment, OMRON, YASKAWA and PARKER products a plus.
    • Experience with Robots, OMRON ADEPT and MOTOMAN products a plus.
    • Experience with Pneumatics, SMC products a plus.
    • Self-starter who works independently and is self-motivated.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
    • Willingness to travel to client sites, as required.
