    Hourly Range:
    $55.69 USD to $86.33 USD


    Summary of Position:


    The works strategically to develop and implement clinical learning for Barton Health staff towards developing an organizational culture of learning.

    The Educator utilizes project management and evidence-based approaches to create and carry out programs and curricula.

    In the interest of promoting best practices, the Educator will seek out new developments, current research, changes to protocols, and evidence-based practices.

    The Educator will support specific clinical knowledge development and review with an emphasis on organization-wide and intra-departmental competencies and training.

    This includes the development of organizational program curriculum and content and staff training. The Educators oversee clinical orientation of new hires, new grads, students, and preceptors.

    Additionally, the Educators provide ongoing support and coordination of in-service learning for medical equipment and technology, evidence based practice changes, updated practice guidelines, department specific competency training, and organization-wide skills and competency reviews such as Barton Annual Competencies.

    The Educator will analyze data through needs assessments, performance indicators, and program evaluation data to develop and implement evidence-based programs.

    They will work closely and collaboratively with department managers, directors, and the leadership team.

    A close collaborative partnership is expected between the Education, Quality, Infection Prevention, and Patient Safety Departments to ensure policies and procedures are up to date and staff can competently and safely care for patients.

    The Educator will review and maintain training materials (eLearning and skills) to ensure all clinical regulatory requirements are met.


    Qualifications

    Education:


    • Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program
    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

    Experience:


    • Minimum of three years recent nursing experience relevant to training areas (acute, neonatal, or outpatient clinic nursing) required
    • Experience in clinical education, or teaching relevant clinical content in a healthcare environment, to include curriculum development, staff development, and general instruction required
    • Experience in learning and using software such as Learning Management Systems, content design programs, electronic spreadsheets, word processing, and report writing preferred

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


    • Demonstrated clinical competency in relevant areas (acute care or outpatient clinic nursing) required
    • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional strategies required
    • Instructional and visual design knowledge preferred
    • Exceptional communication skills and ability to provide friendly customer service in difficult situations required
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and use new software programs, such as Learning Management Systems, design programs, spreadsheets, and word processing preferred

    Certifications/Licensure:


    • Current California RN license or ability to obtain prior to start date
    • For acute care, current BLS, ACLS, PALS required
    • For acute care, current TNCC, ENPC, NRP, STABLE preferred
    • For outpatient, current BLS required (Required and preferred certifications)
    • For neonatal care, current NRP and STABLE required

    Essential Functions


    • Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.
    • Collects and assesses data and information related to education needs, including identification of trends, issues and supporting data to determine a comprehensive education program for assigned units/clinics including classroom, clinical experiences and learning technologies.
    • Become the internal learning expert in the clinical areas assigned, interpreting policy, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensures all programs meet clinical and regulatory expectations and standards. Adheres to national education practice standards and stays abreast of and incorporates current research into nursing education practice.
    • Work collaboratively with Nursing Managers, Directors, and the leadership team to develop and implement training plans for clinical areas.
    • Coordinate and participate in annual departmental competency and training events as well as organization-wide events such as Barton Annual Competencies.
    • Coordinate and develop eLearning modules and course content as needed for clinical program areas.
    • Develop and implement evidence-based orientation programs for new hire employees, new graduate nurse residents, and preceptors.
    • Serve as a facilitator to new graduate nurse residents and actively mentor and support their growth in the profession and clinical practice.
    • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the preceptor program to enhance the orientation process and the retention of staff. Provides leadership to preceptors and serves as a role model through educational programs and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
    • Utilize evaluations in the interest of continuous quality improvement. Participates in quality performance improvement activities.
    • Work closely with Training Coordinators to maintain internal records of all classes and training programs as dictated by Barton's policies and department procedures, such as the Learning Management System, course file management, and classroom and instructor calendaring systems.
    • Evaluates outcomes of the educational programs and utilizes findings for continued improvement.
    • Work collaboratively within the department to provide excellent service at all times.
    • Provides technical support for students and instructors in the classroom and in any relevant processes and software programs as needed.
    • Work closely with Training Coordinators to maintain availability and functionality of equipment and supplies as needed for program areas.
    • Identify collaborative opportunities to provide service to the organization and to the community.
    • Identify/implement best practices and opportunities for evidence-based practices from other healthcare industry leaders.
    • Create and implement program and educational request workflows throughout the organization.
    • Provide oversight and coordination of the Education Council for the organizational shared governance activities.
    • Participates in strategic planning, ad hoc projects and educational activities for clinical areas.
    • Create and run mock code and simulation scenarios to meet department, organizational, and regulatory requirements.
    • Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary.
