Community Resource Advocate - Syracuse, United States - Rescue Mission

The Rescue Mission is seeking a Full-time Community Resource Advocate to work in our Syracuse Emergency Shelter in Syracuse, NY. The Community Resource Advocate assists Rescue Mission clients with connecting to community resources and providers. Will submit referrals to local agencies, assist in completing required paperwork, transport to necessary appointments and advocate in community to assist in achieving goals of Independent Living Plan. Oversees the employment resources center to ensure clients receive support in regards to vocational, career and independent living skills. Conducts employment workshops and provides operational support to New Life Day Center and Shelter as needed to ensure that our clients have the resources and training needed to make a successful transition from Rescue Mission services towards independent living.
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conducts assessments and skill surveys with clients to determine their immediate needs.
• Works with case management team to engage clients and connect to local community resources
• Provide transportation to local agencies when necessary.
• Assist clients with completing required paperwork for community resources
• Provide clients support services to reach goals of Independent Living Plan.
• Advocate for the needs of the client in the community.
• Assist in the development of shared Vocational Goals and Outcomes.
• Facilitates job placement and promotes job retention by networking with potential employers and following up with employers after clients are hired.
• Conducts regular skills training sessions.
• Completes special projects as needed.
• Promotes a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the job
• Provides monthly statistical reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Associates Degree in human services or Bachelor's Degree in social work related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Previous related work experience required.
• Valid NYS Driver's License in good standing.
• Bi-lingual skills a plus.
• Prior recruitment/hiring experience a plus.

Pay Rate: $ $23.00 per hour.
