    Description
    Amentum is actively seeking Senior Naval Architects to help maintain former Navy and Coast Guard ships. This role will be hybrid (combined remote and on-site).


    131-175k (salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).

    Mentor and develop junior Naval Architects, when assigned, to develop engineering and practical skill sets.
    Investigate complex and diverse engineering problems presented in shipboard maintenance and installations.
    Perform ship checks and provide detailed reports documenting structural issues and recommended repairs.

    Perform engineering analytical tasks to identify and correct system deficiencies and provide technical solutions in the form of drawings, memoranda, reports and sketches.

    Support Project Support Engineer and Lead Engineer with regards to all technical issues that arise.
    Interface with project personnel on all matters pertaining to program management, administration, and work assignments for this program.

    Perform complex engineering calculations for design development and to calculate strength, vibration behavior, and safety of modifications and/or repairs to the ship.

    Prepare layout and detail drawings and sketches for varied and complex design projects, such as alterations, maintenance, and repairs.

    Interface with Lead Engineer and other project staff to address ship non-conformances, assess risk, and provide recommendations for new and existing ship structural and material issues.


    Assist reviewing production contractor work Items, access cut plans, design calculations, and other structural engineering related documents for accuracy and technical acceptability.

    Coordinate with other engineering personnel, production and maintenance team, ships force, and other governing agencies as required to develop solutions for naval architecture related issues.

    Interface with cognizant executing activity and planning yard representatives on final design products for technical accuracy and conformance to NAVSEA requirements prior to final acceptance by the Government.

    Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, architectural/naval architectural, or related.
    8 years of industry-related experience in ship maintenance, including shipbuilding. Ability to work onsite and remote.
    Ability to obtain a secret US government clearance


    Note:
    US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance.

    Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS (up to 25%). Ability to obtain a United States Passport.
