    About the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute at the Georgia Institute of Technology

    The Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute (GTMI) is one of Georgia Tech's ten interdisciplinary research institutes (IRI's) and part of the broader Georgia Tech research enterprise. GTMI¿s major areas of research and development are on the design and development of advanced manufacturing systems targeting secure digital manufacturing, additive and subtractive processes, and large-scale production enterprises. Furthermore, GTMI is focused on the scale-up of manufacturing capabilities from laboratory and benchtop scale to pilot plant operations. The institute works with all of Georgia Tech's colleges, the Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP), other IRIs, and the Georgia Tech Research Institute. We collaborate in a cross-discipline way to fully harness GT's strengths and resources.

    Georgia AI Manufacturing (Georgia AIM) is a state-wide initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) to support a statewide initiative that combines artificial intelligence and manufacturing innovations with transformational workforce and outreach programs. Georgia AIM is revolutionizing the industrial economy of Georgia and the nation through the equitable, development and deployment of talent and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) for all manufacturing sectors. Georgia AIM develops, promulgates, and implements models for activating AI manufacturing, ensuring (1) the engagement and participation of underserved populations and communities and (2) the resilience of U.S. manufacturing from future shocks and global competition.

    Job Summary

    The Georgia AIM leadership team is seeking a Research Data Analyst at the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute. The data analyst will report to the leadership team that is responsible for overall award management of Georgia AIM projects and facilities, and will focus on collecting, analyzing, and reporting economic, research, and financial data.

    Responsibilities
      Collect, verify, and analyze economic, research, and financial data. Develop data measures, collection methods, and quality assurance methods for demonstrating success in meeting technical or economic metrics.Manage preparation of financial-related reports and schedules. Participate in manufacturing research programs with the ability to collaborate with faculty, students, post docs, and staff.Support collaborative proposal capture teams, especially in technical writing, aggregating data and creating data visualizations for proposals.Create data visualizations and provide technical writing in support of creating: reports on government issued grant activities, website and social media content, white papers, journal articles, or other engineering and scientific documentation.
    Required Qualifications

    Research Scientist I/Research Engineer I

    • Bachelor's degree

    Research Scientist II/Research Engineer II

    • A Master's degree and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
    • A Master's degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
    • A Doctoral degree.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred candidates will have the following skills:

      Demonstrated success in technical writing, data collection, and data analysis experience, preferably for either or both economic/workforce development and engineering research programs.Experience in working within complex, multisectoral research programs;Expertise in using data analytics software tools such as all-around tools like Excel or Stata, business intelligence tools like Tableau or Qlik or SAS, and/or engineering tools like Python or Origin; Excellent written communication skills (presentations, publications, etc.);Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;Strong time and project management skills; Position will require occasional evening and weekend hours.
