    Job Classification DescriptionCapital Project ManagerNon-Bargaining Unit GRADE 13BASIC FUNCTIONResponsible for the management, oversight and implementation of projects that relate to the strategic vision of Vermont State University.

    Most projects will be construction based but others will include the implementation and unification of campus initiatives and be process improvement based.

    Examples of projects may include construction/renovation of spaces, removal of existing spaces, bidding and managing of specialty functions such as; Fire Alarm Testing and Maintenance, Chemical WaterTreatment, Staff Uniform Unification and Procurement, software implementation.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESManagement of all phases of assigned projects from inception through completionMonitor project progress, by creating measurable milestones and deadlinesSolve issues that arise and adapt the project appropriately to balance needs, budget, schedule and Stakeholder expectationsAdvertising for, and hiring, teams of outside consultants or other subject matter experts, contractors, etc.

    Lead process to determine project scope, budget, & scheduleManage clients and vendors to ensure the end product aligns with the identified scope of services and minimize unanticipated scope creepResponsible for overall budget managementReview and approve paymentOversee Bidding/ProcurementPerform other related duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVEDDirect supervision received from the Assistant Vice President of Campus Operations and/or Director of Campus OperationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field, plus 3-5 years of operations, construction or facilities project management or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSWorking knowledge of various building trades and systems, project management process, as well as administering projects incompliance with grant regulations.

    Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification desired.

    Location:

    This position can be located at any VTSU location but will be required to travel to all locations to support project needs.
