    Job Summary

    Serves to provide system-wide oversight of the modality leaders, with direct responsibilities for overseeing the development and deployment of policies and protocols to ensure high quality, safe, compliant imaging and a focus on optimizing efficiency and effectiveness. Leads the development and deployment of a standardized program for competency assessment and development planning across modalities. Leads the the system-wide strategy for setting and managing the hiring and training criteria, as well as the deployment and management of the career ladders across modalities. Responsible for ensuring all regulatory and compliance standards are met across all modalities. Provides expertise in selection and maintenance of modality instrumentation. Works cross-functionally with the business unit leaders and other divisions of the department to align on strategy and operational plans, as well as coordinate response to problem-solving.

    Department Description

    The UCSF Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in diagnostic and body/neuro interventional Radiology . These services are offered at 15 sites throughout San Francisco, including the hospitals and operating rooms at Parnassus Heights, Mission Bay, and Mt Zion, as well as free-standing clinics. Last year the department saw 452,000 patients.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in area ad/or equivalent experience/training.
    • Minimum 5 years in a lead, supervisory, and/or management role.
    • Licensed technologist in a Radiology modality.
    • In-depth clinical practice and applied background in one or more radiology modalities.
    • Advanced knowledge of industry trends.
    • Strong knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant external regulations.
    • Skills in employee development to grow assigned manager and supervisor leadership skills, leading and guiding them to achieve objectives and manage conflicts.
    • Strategic abilities to collaborate with senior management on setting objectives.
    • Excellent leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff across all disciplines.
    • Proven ability to set goals and manage the implementation process for initiatives. Highly adaptive and ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrated skills to organize, simplify and increase efficiency of Radiology protocols, procedures, and technology while maintaining standards and compliance.
    • Advanced interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate within and across departments.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate complex or new issues and identify options for resolution when no precedent exists.
    • Verbal and written communication skills to address critical, sensitive situations. Strong abilities to actively listen, and change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others.
    • Experience and demonstrated success working with highly complex, fast-paced, matrixed health system.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master's degree in related field (e.g. MBA, MPH, MHA, etc.)

    License/Certification

    Licensed technologist in Radiology modality.
