    Responsibilities



    Under limited supervision, this exempt position is responsible for working with subject matter experts to design, develop, and implement effective learning experiences utilizing innovative solutions that support our educational needs. The Instructional Designer will develop curriculum applying knowledge of adult learning principles and implement techniques for coordinating and delivering a comprehensive range of training programs and modalities. This position is also responsible for supporting the Learning and Development function by assisting with various training reports and maintaining SharePoint and LMS-based learning resources. The position will report to the Manager of Learning Programs.

    Essential Functions

      Conduct needs assessments for target audiences throughout business to determine gaps, training objectives, audience needs and method of delivery.
    1. Research, design and develop training experiences and supporting materials for self-directed, experiential, and formal learning to meet the needs of the business.
    2. Translate business unit policies and procedures into effective training materials.
    3. Work with business units and subject matter experts to ensure final solutions meet expectations.
    4. Utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools to develop materials, with an eye for exploring and evaluating new training technologies.
    5. Incorporate the use of best practice technology to support instruction as needed.
    6. Proofread and edit own work and the work of others to improve quality, readability, consistency, and effectiveness of Learning and Development documents
    7. Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of training and career development programs and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in materials, objectives, and methods.
    8. Manage course projects from inception to completion and make recommendations for action.
    9. Assist the Learning Programs Manager in evaluating various training delivery mediums.
    10. Assist Subject Matter Experts in the development of new course curriculum.




    Qualifications



    Skills and Knowledge

    • Experience designing and facilitating interactive multimedia experiences
    • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles and techniques
    • Experience with course authoring tools a plus (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Captivate, Articulate, Absorb's Create, Camtasia, PowerPoint, Publisher, Canva, etc.)
    • Graphic design knowledge preferred
    • Bachelor's degree required; specific undergrad or post-grad training in Instructional Design strongly preferred
    • Experience in training or educational environment preferred but not required
    • Some travel to offsite business units and job sites required
