    POSITION TITLE:

    POSITION SUMMARY:


    District 15 is seeking a prosecutor who will be responsible for a variety of legal duties, specifically the prosecution of felony and misdemeanors.

    Other specific assignment duties will vary based on experience.


    JOB DESCRIPTION:


    As an Assistant District Attorney for District 15 you will represent the people of Muskogee County by determining if somebody faced with criminal charges has enough evidence to justify opening a case against him/her.

    In this regard, you will seek jail or prison time if the defendant is found guilty. The Assistant District Attorney works under the District Attorney. You will interview victims and witnesses in criminal cases, evaluating the evidence surrounding the crime. Must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and with a team. You will be responsible for the handling of misdemeanor and felony criminal matters. Assist on the entire spectrum from intake to jury trial, and through appeal. Trial skills, case analysis, and plea negotiation skills are required. Include any duties assigned, and may include revocation hearings, asset seizures and forfeitures, bond forfeitures, etc.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Juris Doctorate degree from accredited law school
    • Admitted to and in good standing with the Oklahoma Bar Association or scheduled for the next Oklahoma Bar exam.
    • Possess excellent oral advocacy, legal analysis and legal writing and editing skills.
    • Display strong organizational, interpersonal communication, problem solving and teamwork skills.
    • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check and secure and maintain a favorable background.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Experience is not required, but preferred. Will consider newly licensed attorneys and those sitting for the July bar exams.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:


    Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to noise levels determined by the office environment.

    Most of the work is done in the office or courtroom.

    While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to talk, stand, bend, walk, and reach with hands and arms requiring periods of sitting or standing and daily use of computers and phones.

    It also requires the occasional use of the office machinery in accordance with safety and security protocols.
