    We seek a Strategic Buyer for our Supply Chain department. operational procurement activities; managing supplier quality and delivery performance and supporting efforts to secure best total cost.

    Leading the purchasing team to ensure a consistent flow of raw materials/components to enable uninterrupted production and efficient use of working capital.

    This position works closely with the Master Scheduler and planners, Plant Managers, Production Leads, Sales and Engineering. This position will report to the Director of Supply Chain.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage, support and nurture the development, growth and success of the purchasing staff
    • Support purchasing activities focusing on operational performance and efficiency
    • Develop and maintain communication processes with suppliers through Supplier Agreements, supplier records and Supplier performance
    • Manage the supply chain risks and the actions to secure the supply chain
    • Contracts and pricing management
    • Procurement master data maintenance
    • Act as first escalation point for supply and/or quality issues
    • Lead supplier negotiations, sourcing and managing supplier performance for assigned products and services
    • Introduce the organization to new technical developments in materials and components, which will help the organization achieve its objectives
    • Develop and implement verifiable cost savings strategies. Update and review supplier agreements to ensure best cost is achieved through long term planning
    • Negotiation and implementation of inventory solutions with external suppliers
    • Work collaboratively with the Sales and Customer Care teams to ensure high on-time delivery performance to meet and exceed customer expectations
    • Participate in material management kaizen events and other lean manufacturing activities
    • Assure accurate completion of all documentation, being sure that correct procurement flow is in place from PR issue phase till Incoming phase
    • Maintains supplier lists, conducts contingency planning, maintain purchase orders, quote files, supplier survey and confidentiality agreement on each supplier
    • Responsible for department metrics (inventory turns, PPV, etc.)

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors degree
    • Minimum of 3 years experience in purchasing/supplier management in a manufacturing environment, preferably a job shop
    • Experience with MRP system and Microsoft Office applications, primarily Word and Excel
    • APICS certification preferred. If certification is not in place progress towards this goal will be required
    • Must have high attention to detail
    • Service attitude and ability to coordinate the requests of a variety of employees
    • Ability to understand process flow and develop an organizational system
    • Strong information technology skills and aptitude
    • Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
