    Job Purpose

    Electrical Research Sr. Engineer I is responsible for executing their advanced electrical testing and research knowledge in Power Products, AE industries, and electrical system components to guide PU members through development projects and research activities including new technology understanding product quality, cost, and on time deliverables.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Lead the Development and Evaluation of Electrical Systems: As a senior electrical research engineer, you will take charge of designing, evaluating, and testing intricate electrical systems, products, and individual components. Your expertise in electricity and materials will be crucial in achieving concept targets, meeting function requirements, adhering to regulations, and fulfilling manufacturing requisites.
    • Effective Communication and Documentation: You'll excel at conveying precise specification requirements and manufacturing control points through prototype and production drawings. Additionally, maintaining accurate technical, development, and administrative documentation will be a key part of your responsibilities.
    • Quality Assurance and Coordination: Break down complex tasks, coordinate activities, and create well-structured schedules to ensure efficient execution of work. Your ability to prepare high-quality test summaries will contribute to the success of our projects.
    • Strategic Performance Target Setting: As a senior electrical research engineer, you will be responsible for defining intricate performance targets that align with product concepts, competitive standards, quality benchmarks, and cost considerations.
    • Thorough Validation Process: You'll conduct rigorous validations of specification targets, functional requirements, individual components, and entire products. This involves applying robust engineering principles, leveraging simulations, and performing physical testing – all while exercising independent judgement.
    • Documentation Excellence: Maintain precise technical, development, and administrative documentation as needed to ensure transparency and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Strategic Work Scheduling and Deadline Management: As a senior electrical engineer, you will take charge of creating and overseeing individual work schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks. Your adeptness at managing deadlines will be crucial in meeting project milestones.
    • Resource Coordination and Communication: You'll proactively communicate real-time resource needs and concerns to the unit head. Additionally, your ability to effectively utilize contractor resources, while maintaining a high level of independence, will contribute to project success.
    • Generate advanced ideas and contribute to building comprehensive strategies that support the evolution of new technologies. Support or lead maturation of ideas to prepare for development applications with limited supervision.
    • Prioritize, support, or lead and address market quality themes with limited supervision. Utilize problem-solving methods to analyse root causes. Develop and implement C/M specs as necessary with limited supervision. Assist recurrence prevention when appropriate.

    Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering field or equivalent study
    • 10+ years previous engineering experience, preferably in small power unit application
    • Competent in ECU or electric motor or battery pack
    • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices required to complete difficult technical problems and projects
    • Leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills including written and oral interpersonal skills
    • Competent analytical, problem solving, judgement, decision-making and prioritization
    • Ability to interact/communicate effectively with staff/management
    • Competent in FTA, FMEA
    • Competent data acquisition and laboratory skills
    • Competent understanding of development project cycles, milestones
    • Competent time management skills
    • Must be able to operate with a high level of confidentiality
