    Purpose

    The New Tomorrows (NT) Program Coordinator works directly with clients to assist them in identifying and removing barriers, setting goals, and achieving greater stability.

    The NT Coordinator also manages logistics and provides assistance for the successful implementation of New Tomorrows Program services.

    In addition, the NT Coordinator develops knowledge of and maintains contacts with community resource providers and supports clients in accessing and utilizing those community resources.

    New Tomorrows strives to assist those Lake Christian Ministries clients who express the motivation to move toward a more secure future.

    New Tomorrow's programs include the Partners Program, course offerings (Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin'-By World and additional courses) and connecting Neighbors to community resources.

    Major Responsibilities – Program, Operational, Internal Tasks
    Provides direct support to neighbors during operational hours


    • Oversees recruitment and selection of clients for the New Tomorrows Program
    • Supports clients in accessing and connecting with NT programs and LCM services
    • Supports clients in identifying barriers and accessing community resources
    • Maintains regular communication with clients as they work toward self-identified goals
    Manages the logistics of the Partners Program


    • Assists with identifying clients who would benefit from working with a volunteer partner. Partners work one-on-one in a mentoring capacity with individual clients.
    • Supports recruiting efforts for new volunteer partners and supports existing partners
    • Communicates training opportunities and information on community resources to partners and assists with the development of client-partner relationships
    Manages local employment leads


    • Serves as the primary point-of-contact to cultivate relationships with local businesses willing to employ New Tomorrows clients
    • Oversees the biweekly jobs list produced by LCM's office manager
    • Generates referrals to career training programs, GED/External Diploma programs, and to Virginia Career Works in Franklin and Bedford counties
    Develops and maintains knowledge of and access to community resources


    • Participates in community resource councils and networks such as Bedford Area Resource Council and Franklin County Resource Council
    • Maintains relationships with governmental departments that serve low-income and at-risk individuals such as the Dept. of Social Services, Community Service Boards, Virginia Career Works, Dept. for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, Department of Education, Probation and Parole, etc.
    • Assist clients with accessing and utilizing community resources
    Provides additional support for New Tomorrows Program


    • Identifies potential classes and workshops for clients and shares those recommendations with the NT Director
    • Uses case-management software reports detailing neighbor activity with assistance from NT Director to prepare needed documentation
    • Generates client activity reports for LCM communications, grant applications, LCM quarterly board meetings and NT updates as needed
    Major Responsibilities – Project, External, Long-term Tasks


    • Oversees compilation of NT data used in LCM reporting, program proposals and grant applications
    • Recommends continuous improvements to the New Tomorrows Program

    • Selects clients who would benefit from the New Tomorrows Program
    • Oversees communication and resources provided to partners and clients
    • Maintains knowledge of community resources and develops the relationships necessary to facilitate appropriate referrals
    Skill Sets


    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Solid written and oral communication skills
    • Proficiency with database entry and reporting
    • Utilization of active listening, motivational interviewing and other conversational techniques that facilitate communication, problem-solving and goal setting with clients.
    • Basic understanding and training in – or the desire to learn – best practices and a trauma-informed approach when working with clients with mental health conditions.
