Job description
We are partnering with a fast‑growing consulting firm expanding into the United States. As the Operations Manager, you will be the first U.S.-based hire and play a critical role in establishing the company's presence, culture, and day‑to‑day operations. This is a rare opportunity to build, shape, and scale a business from the ground up while working closely with our HQ team based in Asia.
What You'll Do
- Lead the full operational setup for the U.S. entity, including office establishment, systems, tools, and workflows.
- Build and scale the team—supporting hiring plans, talent selection, onboarding, and organizational structure.
- Create and implement HR policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks suitable for a growing U.S. startup.
- Set the tone for culture, employee engagement, and ways of working across a distributed team.
- Provide executive‑level business support to global leadership, ensuring smooth alignment with HQ in Asia.
- Oversee budgets, vendor management, and general business administration.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and help introduce operational best practices as the company grows.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on U.S. market operations and expansion strategy.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in a startup or high‑growth environment; proven ability to "wear many hats."
- Experience setting up U.S. operations from scratch (entity, office, processes, people).
- Strong understanding of HR practices, employment laws, and culture-building in a small but scaling team.
- Confident, resourceful, and comfortable being the first hire in a new market.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across time zones with teams based in Asia.
- A hands-on operator who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building structure where none exists.
