    Position Description


    Employees in this classification provide support to the Ophthalmology Specialty Clinics by performing preliminary eye examinations and routine tests, and by assuring the steady and even flow of patients through the clinic.

    Work is performed within established guidelines. Works under direct supervision of ophthalmologist when performing patient-care related duties. Works under only general supervision in all other duties. Employees in this classification normally have no delegated supervisory responsibility.

    Preferred Qualifications


    • Eligibility for certification as ophthalmic assistant
    • At least 1 year experience in working for an ophthalmologist
    Required Qualifications


    • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
    • Current Ophthalmic Assistant certification OR eligible for certification and complete certification within twelve months of hire
    • At least one year of experience working in an ophthalmic or optometry setting
    • One year of work experience as an LVN may substitute
