- Medical Assistant certification or eligibility for Medical Assistant certification pending completion of externship.
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

This is a temporary position.
Under the supervision of the MA Supervisor and/or Operations Manager, the Temporary Medical Assistant (MA) supports the nurses and care teams with the daily management of non-clinical nursing and patient care functions. The MA also covers care teams with patient schedules as needed.
As a Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) Assistant, provides overall assistance of obstetrical patient care, including maintaining logs and documentation; schedules perinatal appointments; reviews medical records; provides assessments for high-risk patients; acts as liaison between patient and healthcare team; distributes car seats; may attend County meetings.
Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Medical Assistant:
• Process medication and treatment authorization requests that come in via phone, fax and electronically
• Process disability forms
• Run reports on health maintenance indicators such as overdue paps, mammograms, immunizations, and others while using appropriate tools to track
• Review follow up specialty consultation reports and update history, problem and medication lists
• Assist nurses with case management activities such as completing orders and forms for durable medical equipment, IHSS and communication with patient as needed
CPSP Assistant:
• Performs triage of walk-in and telephone obstetrical patients.
• Schedules appointments for orientations, medical exams, sonograms, genetic counseling, consultations and home visits.
• Coordinates interaction between medical, educational, psycho-social and nutritional care staff.
• Maintains weekly and monthly logs of patient confinements, high-risk patients, teen mothers, deliveries, clients entering CPSP program, 6-week postpartum examinations.
• Reviews obstetric medical records on a regular basis for appropriate medical intervention and documentation in accordance with CPSP guidelines.
