    • Position Summary
    • Position performs bone densitometry (DXA) studies for use in the evaluation of patients.
    • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Degree in radiological technology from an accredited X-ray technician program. Knowledge of radiation safety and protection, radiographic equipment and procedures, anatomy and physiology, as well as radiographic pathology at a level generally acquired through completion of a two-year program in an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, plus three months experience.
    • License/Certifications: Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure by the State of Maine.
    • Experience: 1-3 years' experience preferred. Experience working with computers.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to elicit cooperation from patients and referring providers and in order to convey relevant information to interpreting physicians.
    • Ability to work independently and without supervision, being able to make appropriate decisions and knowing when to request assistance.
    • Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time while paying close attention to detail for up to ninety percent of work time.
    • Skill in positioning patients properly.
    • Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
    • Flexibility and time-management skills to adjust to changes in work flow.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisor and other staff.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
