    General Summary:
    General Summary
    This position reports to the AVP, M&A. The person in this position is responsible for supporting the department's activity in exploring and executing acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, partnerships, and other strategic investments for Unum Group and our subsidiaries. The successful person in this position is primarily responsible for preparing merger consequences analyses, valuation models, and various financial analyses and research supporting the M&A decision making process. The person is an effective diplomat who can work easily with people throughout the company including peers and leaders in the business units (Unum US, Unum UK, Colonial, Closed Block) and corporate staff (e.g., Corporate Finance, Actuarial, Law, Tax, Treasury, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Investments, etc.) and can coordinate teams to facilitate an efficient end-to-end M&A process.

    There is flexibility in the opening, and we are evaluating individuals from entry to experienced levels.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    Valuation and Financial Analysis
    • Build merger consequences and valuation models
    • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and build various quantitative frameworks to evaluate market opportunities, quantify cost and revenue synergies, assess various risks, opportunities, and alternatives in the context of M&A transactions
    • Perform comparable company and transaction analyses
    Project Management
    • Well-organized approach to M&A project management; ability to build project plans and timelines, coordinate diligence teams from the businesses and various corporate areas, as well as external advisors
    • Manage flow of information request / virtual datarooms in buy- and sell-side M&A transactions
    • Maintain project M&A project pipeline and deal log, and perform additional administrative tasks related to the operations of the team
    Executive Communication
    • Develop well-organized, fact-based, balanced presentations to facilitate executive level discussions of strategic transactions
    Job Specifications
    • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA preferred
    • Finance experience required
    • 3-5 years of experience in investment banking or management consulting, 5-7 years of experience in corporate finance
    • Knowledge of the basic economics of financial services and business services companies
    • Very strong problem structuring and analytical skills
    • Very strong financial modeling and presentation writing skills
    • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Superior project management skills; strong collaborator
    • Fast paced; comfortable with tight deadlines, fast turnaround times and ambiguity

    The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
    $89,900.00-$161,800.00

    Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
