- Drive the manufacturing strategy for specific our portfolio products from prototype to low-rate initial production (LRIP) and onto high-rate production.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers early in the development cycle to influence designs for ease of assembly, cost reduction, and reliability.
- Develop and document repeatable manufacturing process flows, including detailed work instructions, MBOMs, and quality inspection plans.
- Design and fabricate custom jigs, fixtures, and test sets to streamline the assembly of complex electromechanical systems.
- Work closely with external vendors (PCBA houses, machine shops, etc.) to ensure quality and resolve technical blockers in the supply chain.
- Work alongside technicians to build first-article hardware, troubleshooting assembly issues in real-time on the floor.
- Analyze production data and yield metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement Lean/Six Sigma improvements.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or high-stakes prototyping environment (Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, or Space).
- Personal experience physically manufacturing hardware (machining, soldering, composite layup, or complex electromechanical assembly). Personal hardware projects are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver hardware under tight deadlines and resource constraints.
- Experience with RF system integration, PCBA fabrication, or SMT processes.
- Hands-on experience with sUAS, flight controllers, or robotic control systems.
- Proficiency in CAD (NX) and experience with PLM/ERP systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
- A genuine passion for the defense industry and a "never-ending" sense of urgency.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to export-controlled information.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Manufacturing Team at Heaviside isn't just assembling hardware; we are building products that protect our warfighters and our country. Our mission is to transform complex R&D into high-rate, quality, and scalable production. At Heaviside, manufacturing is a front-end engineering discipline where you will rapidly iterate on production systems for a diverse portfolio. The Mfg. team owns the manufacturing value chain: from initial Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and tooling creation to vendor management, final integration, and quality control process buildout.
The right person for this role thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a "bias for action." The right person won't be afraid to pick up a soldering iron or a wrench to prove out a process before scaling it.
This is an onsite position in Marina Del Rey, California.

Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
