Description

job summary:
A Research Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Mossville, IL area. This role involves conducting and managing engine structures and dynamics validation tests, interpreting complex data, coordinating with various teams, and ensuring product quality through field issue resolution.

responsibilities:

Develop, conduct, analyze, and manage engine structures and dynamics validation tests using company standards and technologies.

Evaluate complex structural failure modes and provide technical guidance to drive product solutions.

Utilize data acquisition systems, analyze data, perform modal testing, and coordinate design and procurement of prototype hardware.

Set up tests including instrumentation and gaging as appropriate.

Plan projects, generate reports, and communicate conclusions and results. Skills:

Creativity, strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Team player with attention to detail.

Proficiency in making sketches, engineering drawings, and performing common computations.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

Experience with engineering-related computer applications and software, particularly Computer Aided Design (CAD). Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering required.

2-4 years of experience required.
