The Clinical Research Assistant (CRA) is an entry-level pre-professional role designed for pre-medical or health-sciences students seeking structured exposure to clinical research and patient-facing clinical environments.Responsibilities
- File, organize, and maintain study-specific documentation in accordance with sponsor and regulatory requirements
- Assist coordinators with visit preparation including printing visit-specific worksheets and source documents preparing visit packets lab kits and study materials verifying visit schedules required procedures support exam room workspace readiness for study visits assist inventory tracking of non-investigational study supplies logs only no dispensing make appointment reminder calls texts or emails using approved scripts systems confirm visit attendance notify coordinators of cancellations rescheduling needs assist basic patient logistics parking instructions validation arrival reminders general visit flow explanations maintain professionalism confidentiality all patient interactions shadow Clinical Research Coordinators during study visits informed consent discussions observation only source documentation data entry processes sponsor monitor interactions as appropriate observe clinical workflows interdisciplinary collaboration patient care environments receive guided exposure Good Clinical Practice GCP principles research ethics human subjects protections clinical trial phases protocol structure roles investigators coordinators sponsors CROs adhere HIPAA GCP institutional confidentiality requirements complete required training prior independent task execution Human Subjects Protection HIPAA GCP Maintain professional conduct consistent clinical research environments
