    Position Summary:

    Responsible for maintaining, improving, and performing periodic maintenance on the water and irrigation system(s) while promoting and exhibiting World Class Guest Service to all the Isleta Resort and Casino employees and guests.


    Isleta Resort and Casino Guest Service Agreement

    All Team Members will display 100% commitment to World Class Guest Service through the delivery and maintenance of Guest Service Standards established by the Isleta Resort and Casino.


    Essential Functions and Responsibilities: This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.   • Monitors and adjusts sprinklers and all irrigation systems located throughout the golf course's 250-acre turf as well as the Isleta Lakes property.
  • Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, computer and irrigation control wire.
  • Reports any serious irrigation breaks immediately to the Superintendent.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on the irrigation system including the lake re-circulation system and water features
  • Waters all golf course fairways, greens, practice areas, trees, shrubs, and adjacent areas.
  • Rakes bunkers and repair divots as needed.
  • Maintains all facility grounds, trees, and shrubbery.
  • Maintains and ensures all hand tools, power tools, and grounds keeping equipment are in good operating condition and securely stored.
  • Maintains irrigation inventory.
  • Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.
  • Promotes positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, and efficient service.
  • Ensures an open and welcoming atmosphere that promotes skill enhancement.
  • Greets guests, maintains a friendly and inviting atmosphere, and promotes positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, and efficient service.
  • May be assigned to drive company vehicle on public roads, to and from Isleta Pueblo properties, and/or other destinations, during shift.
  • Occasionally performs other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent, (certificate from college or technical school is preferred.)
  • Two (2) year irrigation, grounds keeping, or related experience, required.

    Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certification

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain Non-Key Gaming License issued through POIGRA. Required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background investigation.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be willing to work any days/hours as needed or required to meet business needs. Required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license. Should not have had a driver's license revoked or suspended in the last three (3) years prior to the date of the employment application. Acceptability will be determined by Risk Management. Driving records will be checked.
  • Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system (Toro NSN), including automatic valves and controllers, working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems.

  • Must possess strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to read and understand blue prints and various design schematics.
  • Must be able to operate and use a hand-held radio controller.
  • Must possess knowledge of and be able to trouble shoot an irrigation system.
  • Understanding of agronomy, turfgrass science and rules of golf.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift, move, and place 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, and twist regularly.
  • Must be able to operate trenching equipment.
  • Must be able to work in small confined areas.

    Working Conditions:

    Work is generally performed in an outside golf course setting with exposure to extreme weather conditions such as high levels of heat, cold, winds, rain, hail, and snow. Possible exposure to binding materials for plastic pipe and other materials and tools that may, if not properly and safety handled, may result in bodily harm. Occasionally may be required to interact with hostile and/or angry guests.
