Job Description:
The Zoological Medicine service is recruiting for a veterinary technician assistant to work on the weekends from 8a-6p Saturday and Sunday providing assistance with veterinary care of wildlife and exotic patients.
Shifts will be approximately two weekends per month and training will take place during flexible hours Monday-Friday prior to full independent work on the weekend.
The ideal candidate has experience in exotic/wildlife veterinary medicine, excellent communication and organization skills, a high drive to learn, and an interest in teaching.
This position will be responsible for patient care and handling of exotic and wildlife species, including performing nursing care functions such as feeding, treatments, ,bandaging, and medication administration, instructing veterinary students in general technical skills as well as safety, administering anesthesia to a wide variety of species, and assisting clinician sin performing exams and procedures on patients, among other responsibilities such as cleaning, stocking, transporting animals to other facilities, and handling and maintaining a variety of equipment.
This position requires independent, precise care of animals under the direction of doctors and nursing staff, as well as thorough, professional, and pleasant communication with a wide range of clients, doctors, students, and coworkers.

15-16 plus shift differential on weekends
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Exotic/wildlife veterinary experience preferred
One year veterinary experience
