    Description


    A Welder at Chandler Exhibits is primarily responsible for wire feed (MIG) welding tasks to fulfill requests for Chandler product within established quality standards.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Production


    • Perform MIG welding to complete assigned work orders
    • Verify materials are available, review prints and assemble according to the print
    • Record time, materials, supplies and any other costs to the job, completing required work order paperwork.
    • Record and dispose of scrap. Maintain a clean work area on a daily, ongoing basis
    • In addition to welding, responsible for all operations within the metal fabrication department, including cutting, drilling and deburring.
    • Perform routine, ongoing maintenance of welding equipment. Proactively troubleshoot larger mechanical issues and bring them to the attention of the Group Lead or Supervisor for repair
    • Provide ideas for continuous improvement in regards to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
    • Uphold a positive, professional, cooperative attitude
    • Complete high-quality projects in the time allotted which meet customer requirements
    • Incorporate experience, skills, and knowledge in the fabrication of customer products
    • Help maintain adequate inventory and supply levels

    Other Duties


    • Assist in other departments of the shop as directed
    • Help maintain a clean, safe work environment
    • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS


    • Independently lift up to 50 lbs
    • Standing 100% of the time
    • Bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting and reaching above shoulder level and below knee level

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS


    • Chandler facilities are well lit, heated and air conditioned
    • Flexible work schedule including overtime hours
    Requirements


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Vocational Tech school welding certificate, or equivalent experience
    • Minimum two years of welding experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


    • MIG / wire feed welding
    • Some mechanical ability / aptitude
    • Problem solving and troubleshooting
    • Able to read and understand blueprints, caliper and tape measure
    • Ability to work effectively independently and with others in a team environment
    • Knowledge of consumable and non-consumable materials as a part of the welding process
    • Able to work within schedules and deadlines
