    Psychiatric Technician - Anchorage, AK, United States - 77 Consultants

    Description

    Core Duties:
    The duties include, but are not limited to the following:


    • Conducting or assisting in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients.
    • Performing initial basic assessment procedures, including standardized psychological testing, clinical interviewing, mental status examinations, substance abuse evaluations, and psychological and nursing assessments.
    • Identifying mental health and nursing diagnoses and providing patient education.
    • Observing, monitoring, recording, and reporting the patient's progress.
    • Conducting or assisting in conducting group and individual counseling, therapeutic community, and other related milieu activities.
    • Instituting precautionary measures to prevent patient injury or suicide.
    • Assisting patients with nutritional, hygiene, and comfort measures.
    • Obtaining and recording vital signs.
    • Coordinating with other agencies regarding specified care, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and administrative functions.
    • Contacting military and community agencies to obtain collateral information and explaining and interpreting mental health services to patients or others.
    • Assisting in, or arranging patient referral to public, private, and military community agencies.
    • Preparing and maintaining records and reports pertaining to specialty services.
    • Assisting with care of individuals experiencing acute and post-traumatic stress reactions.
    • Preparing and maintaining treatment records.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Education: You need to have a certificate, which can be acquired through graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program.

    Alternatively, you can complete an equivalent education or experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians.

    You can also complete education and experience as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the United States military. Additionally, you can opt for a civilian course from an accredited school in the care of behavioral health patients.

    • Experience: You must have at least one year of experience as a Psychiatric Technician after graduation.
    • Life Support Certification: You should possess and maintain a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
    • Security: You must possess the ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
