Graduate Nurse Prepare to Travel Program – UPMC Shadyside - UPMC - University of Pittsburgh Medical Center

About the Position:

This unique 12-month rotational program is designed to help you get ready for travel nursing. During this experience, you will rotate through different service lines, gaining valuable experience with various patient populations such as medicine, oncology, intensive care, and surgical. Dedicated preceptors will be by your side in each specialty to assist you in building a solid foundation of nursing skills specific to their area of expertise. To ensure your success, regular check-ins with our nursing leaders will be in place. Your continued participation in this program will depend on your performance, compliance, and meeting all requirements and expectations.

Your final job title and pay rate will be determined by your qualifications and preferences. Necessary certifications and job-related contributions will be supported. The minimum pay rate for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $31.60.

• Zero to one year of experience. BSN preferred.
  • If BSN is not held, an Associates Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing must be held.
• The individual must have the necessary knowledge and skills to provide proper care to patients of all ages within their assigned unit.
• They should also understand the principles of growth and development across the lifespan and be capable of assessing patient data and interpreting crucial information to meet each patient's specific needs based on age.
• Having completed the UPMC student nurse internship or student clinical transitions course is advantageous.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with various parties including executives, managers, physicians, and patients.
• Must be able to work effectively in a complex environment, handle multiple priorities and use specialized equipment.
• Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, and good clinical judgment are crucial in delivering patient care.
• Physical mobility and manual dexterity are essential for tasks such as walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Possess current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
• CPR certification required as per AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components within 30 days of employment
• Must pass licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation. ACSL is mandatory within 1 year of employment.
• Hold either a Registered Nurse (RN) title or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
