    OVERVIEW

    The main purpose of this position is to manage fire and explosion prevention, emergency equipment, and hot work permit program. Takes a lead in emergency response situations. Assists Safety Manager with fire and emergency compliance.

    DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs cleaning and basic maintenance of plant emergency equipment to ensure it is clean, operable and safe for production.
    • Conducts routine inspections of all emergency related equipment.
    • Inspects and Maintains fire alarm panels and coordinates all routine maintenance.
    • Maintains all fire and explosion protection equipment including but not limited to fire panels, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, Fenwall systems, and portable fire extinguishers.
    • Train new operators on fire and explosion protection equipment as it relates to their job role.
    • Manages the Hot Work Permitting process
    • Participates in weekly safety inspections throughout the production departments and corrects, or issues work orders to correct, any identified deficiencies.
    • Inspects and maintains all spill control equipment, first aid equipment, and other emergency equipment within the site.
    • Keeps abreast of latest fire protection/prevention and evacuation systems and practices.
    • Develops, maintains and reports required operational information to Safety Manager regarding emergency and fire protection/prevention equipment.
    • Review construction inspections, fire and life safety maintenance and escalate concerns to Safety Manager
    • Responds to fire and evacuation related alarms along with Security.
    • Coordinates monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual inspections to align with regulatory requirements for all fire prevention/protection and explosion prevention equipment.
    • Assists with evacuations and evacuation drills. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
    • Experience with fire, building, and life safety codes and regulations along with Joint Commission requirements.
    • Experience identifying fire and safety hazards.
    • Knowledge of hazards associated with laboratory occupancies, hazardous materials and ability to apply related codes.
    • Knowledge of building construction and design principles and fire protection systems associated with these.
    • Proficient in MS Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
    • High School degree or equivalent PREFERRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
    • SAP knowledge
