    The geographical scope of our operations spans the U.S East, Gulf & West Coasts, and Alaska, with our Corporate Office situated in Southern California (Ventura) and our Regional Boat Maintenance Center boasting a state-of-the-art facility in Woodbine, Georgia.

    Key Role and Responsibilities:

    As a Marine Outboard Mechanic at MMSI, you'll play a crucial part in the Southeast Region Port Operations for the Navy. Based at our Regional Boat Maintenance Center in Woodbine, GA, your duties will include, but not be limited to:

    • Performing maintenance and repair work on marine engines, utilizing hand and power tools and referring to technical manuals
    • Conducting regular inspections and tests on engine equipment to identify and rectify issues, particularly focusing on outboard engines from various manufacturers, such as Honda and Yamaha up to 250HP
    • Possessing the necessary tools and expertise to service, diagnose, and repair Yamaha and Honda outboards, while also resolving steering mechanisms and propeller-related problems
    • Managing multiple work orders efficiently by prioritizing tasks accordingly
    • Demonstrating a keen eye for quality work and meticulous attention to detail
    • Exhibiting strong written and verbal communication skills in a professional capacity
    • Maintaining an organized and tidy work area
    • Working both independently and collaboratively within a team setting
    • Utilizing computer diagnostic tools for various marine engine and system applications
    • Troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical accessories in boats, such as bilge pumps, charging systems, and steering systems
    • Possessing boat handling skills and familiarity with tasks like hauling, launching, loading, and unloading boats with trailers
    • Demonstrating a strong eagerness to expand knowledge and skills
    • Being adaptable to working in diverse indoor and outdoor environments
    • Ensuring ownership and responsible use of personal tools

    Following the 'Executive Order on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees and Contractors,' MMSI mandates that all new hires and employees must be vaccinated or have plans to get vaccinated as a condition of their employment.

    Work Expectations:

    The job entails light to moderate physical demands, and candidates are recommended to review the USCG Merchant Mariner Medical and Physical Examination Requirements for Merchant Mariner Credentials (Form CG-719 K).
