    Responsibilities


    The Clinical Educator, Specialty Programs is responsible for facilitating improvement in overall quality, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of clinical documentation through audits, education, and coaching of clinical staff.

    The Clinical Educator, Specialty Programs will be responsible for developing education that is consistent with standards of care and evidence based practice for both provider staff and members we serve.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Performs quarterly chart audits and identifies patterns and trends in documentation that could be areas for improvement
    • Develops procedures and standards to improve quality of documentation and accuracy
    • Monitors clinical staff to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, state laws and quality standards
    • In coordination with the Clinical Director - Specialty Programs, manages provider relationships, performance, and delivery with internal partners and leads documentation process improvement efforts
    • Onboards new providers, ensures they receive the necessary instruction to navigate appropriate technology platforms, EMR, supplies, and all other items involved in performing risk assessments
    • Develops standardized patient education based on evidenced based guidelines
    • Facilitates collaboration between Nurse Practitioners and Physicians. Ensures collaboration takes place that meets regulatory standards
    • Acts as a liaison between the coding department and Nurse Practitioners to ensure accurate and timely documentation
    • Participates in clinical review and audit procedures for internal and external providers
    • Responsible for aggressively addressing and acting upon adverse events and action thresholds in area of responsibility
    • Ensures efficient and economical performance in accordance with department operating budgets and takes the appropriate actions to ensure the attainment of profit and year-end goals and objectives
    • Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication
    • Provides outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers
    • Attends all required meetings and in-services
    • Other duties as assigned
    Qualifications

    REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills and Experience


    • Current, unencumbered State Professional Nurse License
    • Associate's degree in Nursing
    • 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience
    • Proficient clinical skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficiency in personal computer use, including e-mail, clinical, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
    • Ability to coordinate complex activities across functional lines of operations, under tight timelines
    • Must be able to relate professionally and positively to physicians, providers and staff with excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills
    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience


    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
    • Experience in clinical education or clinical documentation auditing
